Whoa, That's Weird! - Pre-Show VIP Reception
Spiderhouse Ballroom Sunday July 23 from 5:30 - 6:30
Think Austin is weird now? Go back 30 years!
"Whoa, That's Weird!" is a free public clip show of Austin Public Access TV shows from the 1980's and 1990's. Back in the days before YouTube, if you wanted to be entertained by wildness and weirdness, you just flipped the TV to channel 10. From banana drag queens, to foul mouthed puppets, to death metal bands, Austin citizens have been creating television since 1973. Come to the Spiderhouse Ballroom on Sunday July 23rd and watch a carefully curated and restored clip show of oddball, off-the-wall Austin history.
This pre-show VIP reception is a way for attendees to help support the feature length documentary film, When We Were Live, about the impact of community television on Austin in 20th century and how it pioneered the viral video, YouTube crazed world of today. Filmmakers John Moore and Keeley Steenson will be in attendance to discuss the progress on the film's two year long production so far.
Tickets are $15.
