Storytelling for the College Bound Student: Interviews, Essays, and Life Skills
This is a workshop designed for high school students who are preparing to write college essays and readying themselves for college interviews. In both cases, telling the right personal stories in the best possible way can make all the difference when it comes to getting that prized acceptance letter from the college of their choice. This workshop will help students identify those particularly effective stories from their life and provide them with the strategies required to tell those stories in a clear, concise, and emotionally resonate way. In addition to the college essay and interview, these are skills and strategies that will prove useful in everyday life for years to come. Students will learn the best way to present themselves, meet new people, share aspects of their life, and tell the kind of stories that people want to hear. Internationally bestselling author, nationally acclaimed storyteller, and award winning West Hartford Public School teacher Matthew Dicks will teach the strategies and skills necessary to generate effective content for the college essay and interview. Matthew has been coaching prospective college students for three years and will now bring that experience to the classroom.
Pizza lunch provided.
