Loos Leaf: Loos Leaf is the brainchild of composer/multi instrumentalist Elliott Kay, and producer/engineer Lucas Heinel. After pursuing different musical paths in Los Angeles and New York, respectively, the Santa Cruz natives reunited on a backpacking trip through Central America. While traveling together, the two friends rediscovered their shared love for jazz, hip hop, dub reggae, psychedelic rock, and other forms of music. Upon returning to the states they decided to make music together that would encompass their diverse tastes and showcase their different talents. Now releasing their fist album, Loos Leaf has morphed into a live band that reimagines studio compositions into exciting improvisational shows, featuring some of the most talented young musicians of the Santa Cruz and Bay Area from bands such as Feed Me Jack, Wicked Man, Boostive, and Siren Solstice.
Boostive: With a sound that is difficult to attach to any one genre, Santa Cruz-based, Boostive, draw from roots, dub, ambient, electronic, hip-hop, jazz, and world music, creating a live set that takes you back to when you were a kid and stuffed way too many Skittles in your mouth; although you are not sure which flavor youre experiencing at any given moment, the combination tastes pretty damn good."- Sam Working, Good Times Santa Cruz. Boostive, now based out of Ocean Beach, San Diego, performs regularly with big names in reggae, hip-hop, and ambient electronic music. Recent shows include Hieroglyphics, The Pharcyde, Slum Village, Souls of Mischief, Slightly Stoopid, Del tha Funkee Homosapien, Zion I, Griz and Gramatik. They've also been featured at music festivals such as Lucidity, Serenity, Emissions and Lightning in a Bottle Festival 2017. Beyond their musical talents, the live presence and energy of the band lends a power to their performances, creating a trance-like atmosphere that moves audiences to groove, to dance, and to let loose. Boostive believes strongly in the energy created through collaboration. This enigmatic group of young musicians features many different vocalists, artists, and musicians in their studio recordings as well as on stage, making each show more exciting and unique than the last. The band has released three e.p.s "boostive", "feed the people" and "room for living". Their newest release is a live album entitled "live at kuumbwa" which was recorded as a goodbye to the town of Santa Cruz, the place the band called home for 5 years.
