Jurnee's Story: Jurnee is a 4th grader, who until recently has been a very healthy girl. Vision Issues A few months ago she started having problems with her vision, so her parents took her to optometrist. The optometrist did prescribe glasses but Jurnee's vision was still very inconsistent and she still held books and I-pad extremely close to read. Even then it was hard for her to see them. When the problem was still not getting better, her parents took her to an ophthalmologist who was still puzzled why she couldn't get Jurnee's vision with glasses to work better. The ophthalmologist ordered an MRI to get a better look at what was going on. MRI Jurnee underwent a 2-hour MRI and mom and dad were told by the radiologist they would get results in a few days. So they were shocked when Jurnee's pediatrician called them less than an hour leter. He reported that the MRI showed a tumor in her brain, pushing on her optic nerves. What is next? Jurnee has been scheduled to be seen by a pediatric neurosurgeon specialist in Minneapolis. This means Mom and Jurnee will have to travel to Minneapolis next week. This brings about other concerns, as well. Jurnee is the youngest of 3 girls. Mom is stay-at-home mother, as oldest child has autism and requires constant supervision. Middle daughter has her own medical history, to include numerous surgeries also done in MN. Medical expenses, Travel expenses, hotel expenses, food and uncertainty of what the future holds is very overwhelming, not to mention time spent apart from other 2 children and dad who will need to stay in Minot for school and work. And with it being winter time and the weather being what it has been, traveling back and forth may not be an option. Call for Help! This amazing family and wonderful little girl could really use some help, so all they have to focus on is taking care of Jurnee and her sisters! Please, help however you can and share this, so we can help this wonderful family out!
