HFS Songwriters Night
Join Leah Grams Johnson, Ryan Bisio, Scott William Perry, Rachel Beccaria, and host Jan Bramlett for an intimate evening of music in Dell'Arte's Carlo Theater.  Doors open at 7pm.  Show starts at 7:30. $8 (or $6 for Humboldt Folklife Members).

Leah Grams Johnson is a singer-songwriter hailing from the coast of Northern California. Her unique take on Country and Contemporary Folk music has resonated with fans of all musical backgrounds nationwide. Intelligent, warm, and passionate, her music serves as a true reflection of her character and perceptions of the world around her. Leah writes and sings from the heart, with words that go deep into emotional connections and a voice said to be both angelic and powerfully authentic. Leah has been performing since 2008 and continues to satisfy and amaze audiences with her natural grace, charisma, and poignant storytelling. She is an alumna of Berklee College of Musics songwriting program, and now resides in Nashville, TN to further hone her craft. Respected by artists and critics, and loved by audiences, Leah is developing what is sure to be a long and memorable career with her enrapturing voice and undeniable songs.

Ryan Bisio knows music.  His degree in contemporary music, his seven studio releases, and his touring with Grammy winning artists proves it.  But its the Arcata natives most recent projects that are showcasing his intimate and nuanced relationship with music. In April of 2017, Ryan released a digital live album, recorded at the Arcata Playhouse, and also has a finished studio album titled Bona Fide slated for future release.  Bisio wrote and tested some of the material for Bona Fide as an opening act for the multi-platinum Icelandic band, Kaleo.  That experience made all those late nights trying to unlock the secrets of songwriting worth it.  To be a part of music at that level, affirmed all of the instincts that have led me down this road  using music as a vehicle for self, life, and basketball exploration. Bisio is currently getting his Masters Degree in coaching, and is working on new material for future albums and live performance.  Ryan is honored to play in front of a home crowd as part of the Humboldt Folk Life Festival lineup  coming full circle and sharing his love for the craft with this wonderful community.

Rachel Beccarias music comes from deep within. Blessed with a voice that ranges from a delicate whisper to a powerful force of nature, Rachel writes songs about a wide range of human emotion and her lyrics honestly reflect her life experiences. Rachel grew up in Freshwater and lives in Fortuna. She keeps a personal journal in which she writes often about life, love, and friendships. Much of her writing is poetry that she uses as inspiration for her songs. Rachel has no formal musical training, but melody and lyrics flow freely from her inner self. She loves working with close musician friends who help craft arrangements and structure for the songs while she retains control over melody and verse. Rachel is working on her first album "Songbird".

Scott William Perry is more than just A Tall Drink Of Water, in a cowboy hat.  Hes also, quite possibly, the most promising Country Rock artist on the west coast!
Writing his first song at 12 years old, Scott found his calling. Performing became his journey, and songwriting  his vehicle.  Today, Scott entertains at clubs, fairs, and festivals throughout the western states.

Jan Bramlett brings a light touch to profound subject matter, blending wry humor with deep insight into human nature. Her strong, bluesy voice sweeps through lyrical melodies that hold fast long after you first hear them. While her solo sound is "folky," her songs reflect a broad range of influences from blues to rock and roll, from quiet heartfelt ballads to a more jazzy feel, particularly when she is playing with a full band. Bramlett has been singing and writing songs for years, but she really began focusing on her original work after she moved to Arcata in 2008. She has co-produced a local Joni Mitchell Tribute Show four years in a row, and has opened for Bay area band Blame Sally and beloved troubadour Casey Neill.

Don't miss these talented songwriters!
