Legal Cannabis: Facts and Clinical Skills, a Chemical Dependency Training Consortium Event
Goal of Training
The legalization of medical and retail cannabis creates unique challenges for those working with individuals in the mental health, addictions, and corrections fields. This training will review the effects of cannabis on the mental and physical health of adolescents and adults, including discussion about recent research and reporting. To engage clients in productive discussions about their cannabis use, the evidence-based strategy of Motivational Interviewing will be shared and practiced.

Behavioral Objectives
This training will provide participants with the ability to:

Janis Crawford, PhD, LPC, ACS, Janis Crawford, PhD is a licensed professional counselor and approved clinical supervisor. Since 1998 she has worked in the field of addictions as a treatment provider, clinical and administrative supervisor, and program director. She became a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) in 2007. She has since integrated the practice into correctional treatment for addiction and criminal thinking in the Wyoming Department of Corrections, and the detoxification and stabilization program at Providence Medical Center. Janis uses Motivational Interviewing as a style of supervision with professional counseling interns and provides coaching and formal trainings for behavioral health, medical and criminal justice staffs.

This course has been approved by CDTC as a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, for educational credits. NAADAC Provider #100385. CDTC is responsible for all aspects of their programming.

The CDTC Refund/Cancellation Policy:
For full refund, cancellation of attendance must be received by the CDTC at least 3 days prior to the event.
Cancellations made in less than 3 days of the event are subject to a $15 handling charge.
Occasionally, changes are made due to speaker availability or unforeseen circumstances. The CDTC will send out an email announcement to the registration contact and provide an update on our website.
If we are aware of bad weather in the area, the CDTC will extend the full refund deadline to include the morning of the training. The CDTC still must receive notice of cancellation of attendance prior to 10 a.m.

Lunch: There is a one hour lunch break on your own. There is a large cafeteria at the hospital in addition to a smaller cafe and coffee shop with pre-made meals available. Several lunch options are available to the East, past I-205. It is recommended that you check google maps to check for lunch options including Sweet Tomatoes, Chuck's Produce, or fast food restaurants such as Arby's, Taco Bell or Burgerville.
