It's once again Sur5al time on the Palouse! Teams of five skaters rotate through full 2-minute jams with no lead and no way to call off the jam. Each skater gets 5 penalties for the entire tournament, so if you foul out your team plays on without you. Scores are kept throughout the tournament, with an extra point given to the team who gets their jammer out first.
The first part of the day will be our level two, modified contact skaters. Recommended ages are 8-12. The second part of the day will be for our full contact level three skaters. Suggested ages for level three are 10-18.
Teams may have no more than three boys. Leagues may have one team per skill level, until July 15. If there are open spots after this date, we are happy to fill them with second teams.
Teams do not need to come from the same league. Skaters may create a team of five from various leagues if three or more members of a team practice with the same league, they will be considered representatives of that league.
Skaters are encouraged to have fun with their teams, create themes and are welcome to choose new derby names for this event. Past themes have included My Little Pony, Spice Girl and Tropical Storm teams, for example.
Cost is $100 per team and must be paid to secure your spot in the tournament. Price includes entry for one team of five skaters, shirts for five skaters and five spectator passes. After July 30th the price will increase to 150$ per team of five to accommodate rush orders on printed shirts
There are a very limited number of additional spectator passes available for sale. Due to space constraints at our venue, once these passes are sold out there will be no seating available. Entry into the venue will be allowed only with a skater pass, spectator pass or volunteer pass.
When you register please give us the following information:
Team name
Skating level (2 or 3)
Team color (top three choices in order of preference)
Names of each of the five skaters
Derby names of the five skaters
Shirt sizes for the five skaters (specify child or adult size, men's or women's)
Names of the five chaperone/ free spectator pass holders
Want to volunteer? We need lots of refs and NSOs to make our tournament run smoothly. Contact us at www.wheatwhackers.com or find us on Facebook if you are interested in helping.
