Rosalind and Orlando are both having family troubles.
Rosalind's uncle, the new Duke, has usurped the throne and banished Rosalind's father, the old Duke. At least she still has the love of her cousin, and very best friend, Celia.
Orlando's elder brother, Oliver, has refused to give Orlando any of the inheritance left by their father, and treats Orlando more like a servant than a brother.
When Rosalind and Orlando meet, they instantly fall in love, but then must part ways. The volatile new Duke unexpectedly banishes them both.
Coincidentally, Rosalind and Orlando both run away into the Forest of Arden. What follows is a tangle of unrequited loves, mistaken identity, and self-discovery. In this brave new world, they find adventure, good friends, and love, in all its varied forms. (And in true comedic fashion, the story ends with a joyous quadruple wedding.)
Adapted for Westridge by Brandon Kruhm, from the play by William Shakespeare.
