Josephine, a burlesque cabaret dream play
Winner of "Outstanding Solo Performance" and "Best Show" at the 2016 San Diego Fringe Festival comes home to Orlando for the first time! A play by Tod Kimbro, about the iconic Josephine Baker, written for and performed by Tymisha Harris. Directed and Produced by Michael Marinaccio.
Critic's Pick, Sad Diego Union Tribune: "Harris is a magnetic performer, strong singer and high-powered dancer, who brings to life Bakers trademark African banana dance, as well as numerous 20th century hit songs by Billie Holiday and others."
Best Bet, San Diego Reader: "At the heart of the story is a complex, unapologetic woman who exhibits her sexuality on her own terms. References to Saartjie Baartman, the Hottentot Venus once paraded for white audiences to fetishize, remind us exactly how poignant and political Bakers ownership and celebration of her natural beauty was and still is. Harris tantalizes the audience with song, dance, and feathers."
"a power-packed one-woman show... Tymisha Harris knocks it out of the park in this intimate, charming and haunting cabaret with a twist."- San Diego Can
