An Evening of Cello & Piano at Grizzly Peak Winery
If you are in the Rogue Valley on June 28, you are in for a wonderful summer treat! At beautiful Grizzly Peak Winery, the Rogue Valley Symphony Principal Cellist, Michal Palzewicz, will perform with Ayke Agus on the piano.

Michal Palzewicz has been widely known in Southern Oregon since he moved to the area in 2008. Native of Poland, he performed extensively throughout the United States and Europe both as a soloist and ensemble player. In 2013, Palzewicz performed Tchaikovsky's Variations on a Rococo Theme with the Rogue Valley Symphony as a soloist. He has also performed in numerous productions at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and went on to tour the U.S. as well as China with "The White Snake" production. He is currently performing in "Shakespeare in Love" - this time, playing the violin and the viola da gamba. His original music available for subscription at music.palzewicz.com.

Ayke Agus is a world-renowned musician. She was a former student and the long time piano accompanist of Jascha Heifetz, whom many consider the greatest violinist of all time. She is also the author of the book "Heifetz As I knew Him." A native of Indonesia, though of Chinese, Dutch and Javanese ancestry, Agus was recognized as a child prodigy at the age of 7 on violin and piano. Later while studying on scholarship at Rosary Hill College (now Daemen College), New York, she received two full scholarship offers: one, to Juilliard School of Music, where she was recommended by violin pedagogue Ivan Galamian and the other to the University of Southern California. With her choice of the Jascha Heifetz Master Class at USC, she began a lasting association with him that lasted until his death in 1987. As a teacher of master classes, private lessons, and as a public lecturer and performer, Agus has spent 30 years focused on continuing the Heifetz legacy, regarding his musical beliefs, principles, musical ethics, teaching of the Art of Musical Collaboration, and teaching of the Art of Writing Musical Transcription.

This concert will be the first time for Palzewicz and Agus to perform together. The concert program include repertoire of Saint-Saens, Franck, Schumann, Valentini and Tchaikovsky. The concert will start at 7:30 pm at Grizzly Peak Winery, 1600 E. Nevada Street, Ashland, Oregon. The doors will open at 6:30 pm and guest can enjoy wine and food (not included in the ticket) in the winery's beautiful surroundings. $25 for general admission and $10 for students.
