Katie McNally, Elias Alexander, Neil Pearlman at the Headwaters Room
Hailing from extreme corners of the US, Katie McNally, Elias Alexander, and Neil Pearlman are three of the brightest young voices in Scottish music today. Their new collaboration draws deeply on the Gaelic music of West-Coast Scotland and Cape Breton, weaving an unprecedented synergy of Gaelic song melodies, percussive step dance, and the ground-breaking instrumental creativity all three are known for.
"Poised to become one of the most influential players of Scottish music" (Fiddler Magazine), Katie McNally broke new ground with her 2016 release,The Boston States.Fluent in both the Scottish and Cape Breton fiddle traditions, McNally has appeared across North America at the Newport Folk Festival, the Festival of American Fiddle Tunes, and the Celtic Music Interpretive Centre in Cape Breton.
Elias Alexander is swiftly distinguishing himself in traditional music circles as a border-piper, singer and composer. He tours with several bands including Soulsha, MAC, and his own Elias Alexander and the Bywater Band. His debut album "Bywater" is making waves nationally and internationally and he has performed at many top festivals including Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Scotland, Austin Celtic Music Festival, KVMR Celtic Festival, and Grandfather Mountain Highland Games.
Hailed as "a tremendous pianist" by BBC Radio Scotland, Neil Pearlman tours with his own band Alba's Edge, whose debut albumRun to Flywas produced by legendary fiddler Aidan O'Rourke. Also in demand as a sideman, Pearlman tours and records with the top Celtic musicians in North American including 2015 Canadian Folk Music Award-winner, Adrianna Ciccone.
The three are on a tour of the West Coast this June to introduce their fresh collaboration to fans and newcomers alike. For more information contact eliasalexandermusic@gmail.com.
