Wes Swing at Monkey Bottom Collaborative
Wes Swing is a singer, cellist, multi-instrumentalist, and writer from Virginia. He will be gracing Monkey Bottom's presence for a Sunday evening concert on June 4th.
Swing's first album has been described as reminiscent of Radiohead. Cello and violin feature prominently alongside guitar and drums. The lyrics have a "strong literary component", with poetic influences such as Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot's poems set to music. In general, both the music and lyrics have the sparse repetition characteristic of Swing's minimalist influences, while making use of more modern pop instrumentation and production techniques.
This show at Monkey Bottom is celebrating the release of his second album, And The Heart, which will be released on June 2.
