The Yokels Do Pepper

Come June 1st at the Sanctuary, The Yokels will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. They will be performing their own version of the entire album. Many local musicians including Jim Lahman, Rick Levin, Joel Sonenshein and Zach Zwerdling will join in the Sgt.s Birthday Bash, playing Beatle tunes from all those years ago.

The Yokels have been in your back yards, barns, taverns and on stages in Humboldt County since the late 70s. Steve Irwin, Glen Nagy and Bill Kerker have drawn upon their own history to put together a Soul Strutting Rockabilly outfit unafraid to Retro-fit the Classic Soundtrack of their younger years. They've been playing their Re-imagined Rock and Roll and Original Heartbreak Soul for a couple of years now as the Yokels, writing songs and picking tunes and telling stories from our North Coast home.

And now comes their Most Ambitious Project to Date: The Yokels Do Pepper.

Zach Zwerdling featuring Mercury Sky Records recording artist Rachel Beccaria, who will be backed with a little help from her friends: Sly Holladay on keys, Nate Zwerdling on guitar & bass and Zach Zwerdling on twelve-string guitar. This ensemble is excited to perform at the Sanctuary as an opening act before the Yokels present their reinterpretation of Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club in its entirety. It is hard to believe that it has been a half-century since the release of Pepper - a record that changed the musical universe.
