Whole Washington Fundraiser - Food & Drink, Awards, and Single-Payer Fun!
Whole Washington is working to get single-payer healthcare in WA State, and is planning a statewide initiative in 2018. We need money to help fund an economic study by Bernie Sanders's economist, Gerald Friedman, to best show how to pay for single-payer healthcare for all in Washington State. This is an essential first step in gaining information for putting forth an initiative.
Join Whole WA at Cindy Black's house for our first fundraiser. Cindy is the Director of Fix Democracy First, a Whole WA Board member, and the former Campaign Director for I-735.
Pam Keeley, Bernie Sanders and Barack Obama National Delegate, will be speaking about her experiences as a registered nurse, and why there is an urgent need for single payer. A Whole WA Board member, after 45 years in the nursing profession, she is keenly aware that sound health is the sine qua non to a meaningful, productive life - and that universal healthcare is a basic part of our social contract.
At this event, we will also be honoring organizations who have done tireless work for healthcare justice in Washington State, including Health Care For All - WA and United For Single Payer.
Food will be served, including buffet appetizers; beer, wine and beverages will be aplenty.
Tickets are $27, with a special $10 rate for seniors, people with disabilities, and those with limited financial means. Sponsorship opportunities are also available.
While the event is kid-friendly, pets are not allowed.
Only the patio is wheelchair accessible, but, since the weather will approach 80 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday, the party will likely be held on the patio. However, the bathroom takes a couple of steps to get to. Thus, depending upon your condition, this may or may not be a barrier to participation. We apologize for the lack of accessibility; the space was donated to us, but we will try to have more accessible venues in the future.
