Clouds & Mountains Cd Release Show with Valley Maker
Clouds & Mountains is a folk-rock ensemble based out of Boulder, Colorado. The band has been known to weave atmospheric, meandering melodies around delicately tailored rhythms, while also laying out faster, overlapping odd-metered concepts that are accessible to the open ear. Clouds & Mountains have shared stages with Shakey Graves, Jolie Holland, Y La Bamba, Wild Child, Spirits of the Red City and Paper Bird, just to name a few. The band has played at larger venues, such as Red Rocks Amphitheater and the Bluebird Theater, but the music can suit more intimate spaces where the songs can resonate and linger with smaller audiences.
Currently, the core of the band is comprised of Macon Terry (guitars, bass, & vocals), Rachel Sliker (violin, synth, & vocals), Robin Chestnut (drums and percussion), and Connor Fitzhugh (electric guitar). The band was started in 2011 by Macon (singer/songwriter) and has casually had a rotating cast of musicians to help craft the sound of C&M.
Lampscape Fables (2012) was the result of a long distance collaboration with Buena Vista artist, Brynn Ronning. This EP was recorded to 2 tape in one evening with several of Macons high school friends in Houston, TX. The follow up album, Slumber (2015), was recorded to 1/4 tape in the crumbling basement of a Denver home in Capital Hill along with a line up of Denver favorites: Kris Drikey, Natalie Tate, Jeremy Averitt, Blake Stepan, Rachel Sliker, and Robin Chestnut.
Hi & Low, to be released in June of 2017, is a collection of 9 songs recorded in studios across the country over the past two years. These songs have utilized 2 tape machines in Anacortes, WA and Houston, TX. The Colorado portion of the album was recorded in the digital realm, thus allowing for more overdubs and various sonic opportunities.
