The Afters With La Red in Ellenton
The Afters a top selling Alternative Christian Contemporary Rock Pop group has teamed up with the Ellenton Ice and Sports Complex 5309 29th St E, Ellenton, FL 34222 to raise funds for Educational Harbor Inc. A 501c(3) Private Christian School.
With their new album "Live on Forever" released September of 2016 the Afters Founded by Joshua Havens (vocals/guitar/keyboard) and Matt Fuqua (guitar/backing vocals), The Afters was formed as the two musicians who worked together as baristas at a Starbucks in Mesquite, Texas began playing for customers at the local coffee shop.
Their popularity and fan-base would spread, as Joshua and Matt eventually moved on to performing at local clubs in the Dallas area. After catching the attention of a Nashville record label, the band, which also includes drummer Jordan Mohilowski and bassist Dan Ostebo, gained popularity with its first single "Beautiful Love." The song was used as the theme song for MTV's hit show "8th and Ocean" and was also featured in the 2006 Lindsay Lohan film, "Just My Luck."
After forging a partnership with a mainstream label in addition to its Christian market label, The Afters' second single "Never Going Back to OK" was a #1 hit that pushed listeners to drop their "comfortable lifestyles and yearn for something greater. It was followed up with their latest single, "Light Up The Sky," which speaks of God's continued guidance when we stumble in the darkness.
With the single, "Broken Hallelujah," off their album Life Is Beautiful (2013), the band sings about praising Jesus, even through life's toughest trials. There were times when we were in tears writing that song," Josh explains. "We opened the book of Job and saw a man who experienced more loss than we could ever fathom. In the midst of all that, he shaved his head and took off his clothes so that he truly had nothing left, fell to his knees and worshiped God. Broken Hallelujah is a song about praising God, even when the only thing we have to offer is our worship.
Educational Harbor is pleased to have two of our beloved local worship bands joining us on this day to Worship and ask God for his continued blessings on the School and its students.
