A group of talented & privileged women are making a play about Leni Riefenstahl, the innovative German filmmaker responsible for Hitlers most famous propaganda films. They are trying to reclaim her legacy but that proves harder than they thought. I AM THE MARATHON combines awkward encounters, hidden rooms, polar bears, and cracked smiles in a messy meditation on making art under a regime.
