"Mississippi, Your Food Is So Queer"
Mississippi, Your Food is So Queer is a celebration of LGBTQ kitchen culture and makes visible the invisible hosts of Southern hospitality. The dinner at Saint Leo on May 2nd at 6:30 pm is a culinary celebration and leads into Oxford Pride Weekend.
The Sarah Isom Center is proud to welcome Senatobia native and James Beard-nominated Chef, Sydney Meers back to his home state of Mississippi. Chef Meers is the owner of Stove Restaurant in Portsmouth, Virginia, where he serves his own cured hams, homemade sauces, and inspired dishes that reflect his travels in life from his time in Mississippi, his journey to California in the 60s and 70s, and the mid-Atlantic region. His cooking life is infused with a touch of the classical, New Orleans, and lessons from his grandmother.
Chef Meers is coming to town as a road warrior chef. He is driving from Virginia to Oxford with fresh striped bass, his own cured hams, sauces, cheeses, and cake pans in his car! Please reserve your seat at the table. There are only 24 seats left and tickets are $65.00. With that, you will enjoy a four-course meal, a complimentary cocktail, and your investment in that ticket goes to support diverse LGBTQ programming done by the Sarah Isom Center for Women and Gender Studies.
