Fonthill Castle & the Mercer Museum Bus Trip
Bus trip during Summer Institute at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum:
Head east to explore the collections of Henry Mercer, a contemporary of Landis Valley Museum founder Henry K. Landis. You'll start the day exploring the 44 rooms of Fonthill Castle, Mercer's poured reinforced concrete estate house, which was built between 1908-1912. After that, you will receive a rare behind-the-scenes tour of the Bucks County Historical Society's Storage and Collection Center, which is closed to regular visitors. Following lunch, the day will conclude with a self-guided tour of the Mercer Museum's 55 exhibit rooms and alcoves filled with tools and products of almost every American craft, trade and occupation.
Motorcoach boards at Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum at 8:45 a.m. Breakfast and lunch are included. Breakfast is served at Landis Valley's Yellow Barn starting at 8 a.m. Trips include walking so proper footwear is essential. Motorcoach returns to Landis Valley sometime between 4:30 and 5 p.m.
