Event
First Annual Interfaith Prayer Supper
In keeping with its ongoing efforts to bring together people of all faith traditions -- from Christian to Buddhist and Sikh, from Jewish to Muslim and Unitarian Universalist -- Stanislaus County Interfaith Council is launching a new Springtime event to complement its popular, long-running fall gathering, the Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration.
Coinciding with the National Day of Prayer on May 4, this Thursday evening "Supper" is scheduled for 6 to 8 pm at the Modesto Church of the Brethren, and will feature a full vegetarian meal accompanied by ethnic side dishes and desserts. Moderated by SCIC President Mark Haskett, guest speaker Dale Peterson will kick off the evening's festivities, followed by prayerful presentations from the full spectrum of faith communities in the area. Guided by this year's theme, "Unity in Diversity," short messages and meditations will affirm our common goals while continuing to build bridges of understanding.
Food is secondary. Fellowship is the main course!
