Monday Exploration RURAL LIFE TOUR
You will travel via mini motor coach through downtown Baton Rouge to the center of Baton Rouge, while hearing interesting facts about Baton Rouge and Louisiana, and then you will arrive at the Rural Life Museum where you will BE AMAZED!
Stroll through the beautiful 420 acre Windrush Plantation in the center of Baton Rouge.
On the LSU Rural Life Museum and Burden Gardens Tour, guests will be awestruck with the extensive collection of artifacts and buildings that specifically pertain to rural life in 19th and early 20th century Louisiana and the Lower Mississippi Valley.
The tour consists of the museum and its grounds which are divided into 3 areas:
The barn- which houses artifacts dealing with everyday rural life
The working plantation- which consists of a complex of 19th century buildings common to the working mans life on a working plantation.
The Louisiana cultural area- This area is a collection of buildings representing the different house types common to different areas of Louisiana
The museum is dedicated to representing the common working man of Louisiana. It is not your common plantation tour of the "grand plantations" most people think of when they think of a Southern plantation.
There will be docents who will guide guests through the museum, as well as guests enjoying a short film, prior to the tour.
Guests will enjoy interactive and participatory activities and demonstrations on-site
