MANDAUE CHILDREN'S CHOIR CONCERT
Philippine pride best describes this internationally acclaimed group of young artists.
Known as The Mandaue Childrens Choir (MCC), it was founded by the multi-awarded musician, choir conductor and trainor Maestro Dennis Gregory Arcelo Sugarol. The MCC originally started with the Mandaue City School for the Arts Childrens Choir who was Grand Champion in the Childrens Choir Category in the National Music Competitions for Young Artists ( NAMCYA) in 2004. They then went on to receive various prestigious awards in the country and abroad, among them the Garbo sa Sugbo Award, the Perlas Award for Performing Arts in 2006 and 3 gold medals in the 1st Asian Choir Games 2007 in Jakarta,Indonesia.
In 2008, the choir became community-based and evolved into the Mandaue Childrens Choir and eventually the Mandaue Children and Youth Chorus. The group went on to become World Champion in the Childrens Choir Category in the Grand Prix Competition of the the First World Choir Championships in Gyeongnam, Republic of Korea. In 2011, they also bagged several awards in the Hongkong International Youth and Childrens Choir Festival. In 2012, The MCC was guest choir in the Taiwan International Music Festival where they were so enthusiastically received.
No less than the President of the Republic of the Philippines gave honor to the group when they were bestowed the Ani ng Dangal Award three times, in 2009, 2010 and 2012. The year 2012, was also a year of great grace for the group. Their angelic voices reverberated in St. Peters Basilica, in the Vatican City, Rome, Italy when they sang in several occasions during the canonization of St. Pedro Calungsod, the 1st Visayan and 2nd Filipino saint. They also brought great pride to the Filipino communities in Rome and Vienna, Austria where they held a series of concerts.
The present membership of The Mandaue Childrens Choir, children aged 7-16 years old, look forward to producing their Christmas album in celebration of MCCs 10th year anniversary. With Divine Grace, they will continue to strive to place Cebu in the world map as world-class artists and performers even at their young age. Proud to be Filipino, they bring Philippines to the World.
