1617 Spring - The Agony and Ecstasy of Love
Numbering approximately 60 adult singers, newly-formed San Ramon Valley Chorale presents The Agony and Ecstasy of Love. Featuring a diverse selection of choral music from different genres, the program is certain to delight casual music fans as well as choral music aficionados. The repertoire includes love-inspired music throughout the ages like the Brahms Zigeunerlieder, as well as selections by Bernstein, Offenbach, and a clever madrigal-styled Beatles tune. Lighter offerings include a Sweet Adeline arrangement for womens voices and a light-hearted calypso mens selection.
Tickets for our May 2017 concerts ($20 for adults; $15 for students and seniors, $10 for kids 12 and under) may be purchased online at Brown Paper Tickets. For more information on the Chorale, please visit www.srvchorale.com.
The San Ramon Valley Chorale was conceived in 2016 by award-winning Director, Bruce Koliha, who was coaxed out of retirement by Hayden Padgett, a former student of Kolihas. Padgett pitched the notion of a professional-level adult chorale to Koliha and jointly, the two pulled together a unique blend of talented alumni from both Monte Vista and San Ramon Valley High Schools, as well as accomplished singers from religious and community organizations. Today the chorale also includes a number of semi-professional and professional musicians from the greater tri-valley area and beyond.
