FULL DETAILS:

We cordially invite you to Theatre Espresso's 25th anniversary. Join us at Faneuil Hall on Thursday, May 4, 2017 (5:30 - 8:30 PM).

The event will highlight Boston's history of activism and civic engagement, offering a rare public performance of a Theatre Espresso play, The Trial of Anthony Burns, an original Theatre Espresso production exploring ongoing tensions between states' rights and federal law.

Help us honor Robert J. Cordy, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court Justice (retired), for his significant contributions to the civic education of young people, as we present him with our Justice in Action award. Proceeds from the event will support our Road to Tolerance program at the John Adams Courthouse, which enables 1,700 Boston Public School students each year to participate in our interactive plays.

Over the past 25 years, more than 250,000 Massachusetts students have participated in Theatre Espresso's interactive plays, bringing them into the crucible of historic events through the open door of theatre. By engaging in dynamic debates with professional actors (who remain in character throughout), students discover that the study of history can be exciting, while acquiring a deeper understanding of the connection between the struggles of the past and those faced today.

"It touched my heart to see those kids be brave. And it shook my heart to see how they were treated for no reason."
-- A seventh grade student at Dorchester Collegiate Academy, in response to Theatre Espresso's The Nine Who Dared: Crisis In Little Rock.
