Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: What do I wear? Do I have to dress up? Are costumes required? A: Please come as you are most comfortable. 1920s-era costumes are encouraged, but not required. Well be enjoying food, wine, jazz and croquet, so whatever feels most comfortable to you for those activities is just fine.
Q: Will dinner be served? A: Hors d'oeuvres and similar finger foods will be available. If you think youll need extra energy or a fuller stomach for croquet or dancing, we encourage you to eat dinner before you arrive.
Q:Do I need cash for the bar? Will you have mixed drinks? A: We will serve wine and beer only, and there is no charge for these beverages. Please drink responsibly, and do not drive while intoxicated.
Q: Can I bring my child(ren)? Or invite my teenage relatives? A: No. This event is restricted to guests who are 21 and older.
Q: Can I buy tickets at the door? A: We prefer you purchase tickets ahead of time, as we need an advance headcount for planning purposes. Also, the historic home hosting us has a limited capacity, and we cannot guarantee we will have additional space that evening. If you must buy tickets at the door, please remember we are NOT accepting credit cards on site. You will need to bring enough cash to cover the entire ticket price.
Q: Why does the ticket site say to bring cash if Ive already bought a ticket? A: To register for the croquet tournament, of course! In addition to the fun of purposely whacking your opponents ball as far as you can (its legal!), you can win dinner for two at Rathbuns. Registration for the tournament is $10, and we are not able to accept credit cards on site, so please bring your cash.
Q: Whats up with the croquet thing? I dont even know how to play! A: No worries! Croquet, a popular 1920s-era pastime, is an easy game to learn. Simple rules cards will be available, and no score-keeping is required. If youve played (or even watched) mini-golf, you can handle croquet.
