Tardeada VI - Jóvenes que bailan
Jóvenes que bailan is our matinee dance concert featuring youth ensemble Los Lupeños Juvenil with special guest dance companies Los Mestizos de San José and Xochitl Cultural (Lincoln High School).

Los Lupeños Juvenil was launched in July, 2015.  Dancers in this company range from 10 to 15 years old and have the opportunity to explore Mexican folk dance in a professional environment with a special mentoring that prepares them to enter the main Performing Company someday. Los Lupeños Juvenil is directed by Samuel Cortez.  www.loslupenos.org/ll-juvenil.html

Los Mestizos de San José was founded by Theresa Rodríguez in the summer of 1973.  Since then its instructors have taught hundreds of dances to thousands of young dancers.  The tradition continues under the direction of Hector González.   www.losmestizos.net

Xochitl Cultural is the student group from Lincoln High School.  Currently directed by Arturo Magaña, they perform at festivals around the bay as well as host their own concerts and invitational.  www.lincolnperformingarts.com/dance.html

The Cashion Cultural Legacy is committed to sustaining the preservation, presentation, and education of Mexican folk culture through dance.  It pursues this mission by operating a professional Mexican folk dance company (Los Lupeños de San José), offering accessible classes to the community (Los Lupeños Academy), operating an artist exchange of dancers, directors, and choreographers between California and México, and researching and documenting the art form.

The Cashion Cultural Legacy's programming, including this concert, is supported by many individuals, foundations, and corporations.  We would especially like to thank recent contributions from:  Silicon Valley Creates, California Arts Council, City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs, Castellano Family Foundation, Center for Cultural Innovation, Donor Circle for the Arts, and Adobe Systems.
We are also indebted to our friends and partners at the School of Arts and Culture @MHP.
