CenterStage Community Theatre proudly presents " Bus Stop "
Center Stage Community Theatre, 604 Powell Street, Lebanon, Indiana is excited to announce the first show of their 2017 season. The play Bus Stop by William Inge is being directed by Will Pullins.  The cast includes Katie Manns as Elma Duckworth; Karen Webster as Grace Hoyland; David Buttram as Will Masters; Michael Patton as Carl; Melissa Cleaver as Cherie; Bob Grause as Dr. Gerald Lyman; Michael Patrick Smiley as Virgil Blessing; and Michael Cleavenger as Bo Decker.
The setting for this comedy/drama/romance is a diner in a small Kansas town west of Kansas City.  A major snow storm is underway as a bus pulls in for its regular stop.  Travelers on the bus are forced to hole up until the storm passes.
Cherie, a nightclub chanteuse in a sparkling gown and a seedy fur-trimmed jacket, is the passenger with most to worry about. She's been pursued, made love to and finally kidnapped by a twenty-one-year-old cowboy with a ranch of his own and the romantic methods of an unusually headstrong bull. As a counterpoint to the main romance, the proprietor of the cafe and the bus driver at last find time to develop a friendship of their own; a middle-age scholar comes to terms with himself; and a young girl who works in the cafe also gets her first taste of romance.
Bus Stop is the third play written by William Inge.  The show opened on Broadway in 1955 and had a run of 478 performances. Mr. Inge had a number of Broadway and movie successes including Picnic, Comeback Little Sheba, and Splendor in the Grass.
The New York Times wrote concerning Bus Stop, "Mr. Inge has put together an uproarious comedy that never strays from the truth.
New York Post comments about Bus Stop included, "William Inge should be a great comfort to all of ushe brings to the theatre a kind of warm-hearted compassion, creative vigor, freshness of approach and appreciation of average humanity that can be wonderfully touching and stimulating."
Performances of Bus Stop will be February 24th - March 12th with shows at 7:30 PM on Friday and Saturday and at 2:30 PM on Sundays. Reservations can be made at (765) 894-5587 or on Brownpapertickets.com.
