AUDs 2017 Conference Union rules that act as impediments to running for office: Are they legal? How can you beat them?
AUDs 2017 conference will bring together unionists to discuss the variety of union rules and requirements that can and often do prevent reformers from running for office or mounting successful campaigns. These include meeting attendance rules, requirements to obtain signatures in order to be nominated, requirements to earn designation as a slate, continuous good standing requirements, and more. Speakers at our conference will include several candidates for local office. Each will discuss the obstacles they encountered. We will then have a presentation by representatives from the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Labor Management Standards, New York District, on these same rules, and their legality.
