Kadima String Quartet Celebrates Diversity; Music From Many Lands
The Quartet's repertoire is notable for its diversity, its palette ranging from Mozart to Led Zeppelin. New works have been written specifically for the Quartet, including a commission by 20th Century Fox. They are featured performers in a variety of chamber music series throughout the greater Los Angeles area including, "Music at the Mansion" in Beverly Hills, the Culver City Chamber Series, Concerts at One, and The Gateway Performance Series. They can also be heard in films, including "The Hebrew Hammer" and "For a Good Time Call."
The Quartet values its pedagogical role, abiding by the motto "You play, and you pass it on". They provide outreach programs to public schools and senior residences, and offer performance workshops at colleges. In the past season they brought interactive music events to Cal Poly Pomona, Kittridge Elementary School, Van Gogh Street School, Millikan Middle School, Daniel Pearl Magnet High School, and the Vaughn Next Century Learning Center.
Twice the ensemble has received the Coleman Chamber Music Outreach Concert Award. This year the quartet received grants from both the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and the City Department of Cultural Affairs for continued outreach concerts in the San Fernando Valley area.
As the official quartet of the Kadima Conservatory, they teach privately, coach chamber groups and the string sections of the Kadima Conservatory training orchestras, head a student mentoring program, and arrange master classes and performance opportunities for Conservatory students.
The quartet members are Eric KM Clark and Brian Benning, violins, Beth Elliott, viola, and Lynn Angebranndt, cello.
