Canadian singer-songwriter Ariana Gillis creates whimsical, addictive folk-pop story songs with one-of-a-kind themes: creatures in a lake with healing powers, people in adjacent graves chatting with each other. Audiences instantly respond to the yearning voice, unguarded emotion and irresistible hooks that are the hallmarks of her music.
Between her CDs and her playful, muscular live performances, Ariana has won over even the most jaded critics: Dave Marsh, the "dean of American rock writers," admits to being her biggest fan. Bernie Taupin, Elton John's lyricist says: "Her stage presence is the most visually grabbing I've ever seen." All are very excited about the evolution of her music. Tonight she'll be performing with her father, Canadian songwriter Dave Gillis.
She's currently in the studio finishing up a new album, expected to be released later this spring, "Head Full of Stars," which came out of months of recovery following a very serious head injury.
