St. Paul De Vence with Lydia Ramsey and Nicholas Bullock
Seattle folk darlings St. Paul de Vence maka a stop in Nashville to perfrom a special set at The Horton Building on March 8th. The show begins with set's from the wonderful Lydia Ramsey and local artist Nicholas Bullock.
St. Paul De Vence: Formed in June of 2011, a wave of good omens and overwhelming responses continues to follow the bands steady and sincere work. Only four months after their formation they gathered in the studio to record their debut, self-titled album, with a live approach and minimal overdubs. The album proved a success with seven straight weeks in the Top 10 of KEXPs Americana and Pacific Northwest Charts following its release, and the record was selected as one of KEXPs Top Albums of 2012. Don Yates of KEXP says of St. Paul de Vence, The bands dynamic, acoustic-oriented sound includes guitars, accordion, ukulele, autoharp, banjo, mandolin, assorted percussion and more, fleshing out well-crafted songs with warm, soulful harmonies and occasional anthemic choruses. www.stpaulband.com
Lydia Ramsey: A multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Lydia Ramsey has been praised for the almost vintage quality of her voice. But her art and outlook aren't solely influenced by the past and certainly not dwelling in nostalgia. A collector of ancient music making devices, her songs feature those instruments in unique arrangements to color the tunes, all the while backing up her beautiful voice. Her songs convey both the wildness and free nature of the great northwest and are steeped in the fingerpick-guitar rudiments of folk music. www.lydiaramseyusic.com
Nicholas Bullock: "These songs beautifully-layered and cleanly produced rock and dream-pop constructions that conjure the atmosphere and complexity of Pink Floyd, the dusty locomotion of Wilco and the love of melody via Nicks favorite band, the Beatles were absolutely begging to be set free, a green horse kicking around in a stall, bursting with energy, bubbles aching for oxygen." - Lockeland Springsteen
