MotionArt's Space Encounters
MotionArt invites audiences to take a journey through space - whether its inner space, outer space or personal space - via innovative, dynamic choreography set on a multigenerational group of dancers from diverse backgrounds. Co-directors Pam Gleason and Diane Moncrieff offer an evening of dance that is sure to captivate, move and delight.

Gleasons premiere of Pedemorphosis is inspired by local artist Ed Bocks Pedestrian Sculptures. Featuring 11 dancers, it delves abstractly into how human intentions and chance interactions shape who and where we are, and the impact this can have on one another and our environment.  In Waiting, originally choreographed in 2004 by Gleason and set to a catchy Muzak soundtrack, audiences will enjoy a timeless, comical look at personal space. Gleason will also debut her highly caffeinated solo, Innerve.

Moncrieff will present her latest structured improvisation, In the Cloud, envisioning dreamlike scenarios of human connection and isolation in an epically wired world. In D-Light-Full, Moncrieffs work takes a luminous, light-hearted trip into another dimension inspired by the music and culture of EDM. Moncrieffs new solo, Ties, is a bittersweet expression of unforeseen bonds, irrefutable gifts, and the collateral effects of adopting a child from a distant culture.

MotionArt's intergenerational company of dynamic dancers includes John Agurkis, Mary Bock, Robert Borman, Holo Lue Choy, Sarah Finley, Lori Mercil, Alys Ayumi Ogura, Amy Olson, Kristine Spangard, Alan Tse and Jen Warg.

A gallery showing of Ed Bocks resonant explorations of color and texture will coincide with the dance concert. It will open for viewing one half hour prior to the show and will continue to be open for a half hour post performance.
