THE BALD SOPRANO Marathon
The Bald Soprano Firehouse Theatre Performances Begin - April 21st @ 7:00pm Final Performance - April 22nd @ 6:00pm 24 Performances 55 Min Run Time
Firehouse Theatre presents Eugene Ionescos anti-play THE BALD SOPRANO, which will run on a non-stop loop for 24 hours! Beginning April 21st at 7:00pm, each production will start every hour on the hour and will continue until April 22nd closing the marathon at 7:00pm. Six actors take on the challenge of performing Ionescos absurdist piece 24 times straight - no breaks or intermissions! And, no one show is the same; the actors rotate into different roles for each show! One ticket gets you into any performance - one performance, ten performances, or even take on the challenge of seeing all 24!
THE BALD SOPRANO follows two couples, the Martins and the Smiths, along with the Martins pushy maid Mary and her lover the Fire Chief. Whether telling stories, reciting nonsensical poetry, or simply trying to remember who they are married to, this play pushes its characters (and actors!) into insanity. A satire on social conventions, THE BALD SOPRANO is considered one of the founding plays of absurdist theatre and one of Ionescos greatest works.
