GIBFF PRESENTS: Cinema, Jazz and Conversation @ Backstage on Broadway
The Gary International Black Film Festival presents the Mobile Art House Film Series
A pop up Art House film and discussion series that brings indie Black film to a neighborhood near you.

Miles Ahead | Chris Green Quartet

Don Cheadle co-wrote, directed, and stars in this imaginary tale of legendary jazz musician Miles Davis. Cheadle weaves a tale of love and loss during the 5 years that Miles was not making music. His relationship with a journalist (Ewan McGregor) who wants to profile him, and his troubled marriage to a former dancer (Emayatzy Corinealdi) all make for a wilde ride. Michael Stuhlbarg co-stars.

Chris Green Quartet
In much the way that classical composers have historically used native folk elements as the basis for their art, the Chris Greene Quartet (CGQ) uses familiar modern materialsfunk, R&B, soul, bluesas a bridge between jazz and other genres, making CGQ something different on the modern jazz scene. The group has been together since 2005 (current drummer Steve Corley joined in 2011) and has released eight CDs. They have also been performing on bigger stages recently, including packed houses at Chicagos Green Mill. Greene has been in frequent contact with Brazilian soul star Ed Motta, who enjoyed the quartets version of his Papuera. And the bandleader knows that mixing an open-minded attitude with judicious decisions creates a wide appeal.

The Mobile ArtHouse Film Series is made possible through the support of the Legacy Foundation, The Knight Foundation, Indiana Arts Council and South Shore Arts Alliance
