Welcome to Seattle's March Is Cabaret Month Festival 2017!

This DISCOUNTED double-feature ticket buys you a seat for back-to-back shows, featuring two performers at 7 pm and a different two performers at 9 pm. (There will be a half-hour break from 8:30 to 9.)

Here's the lineup for Friday, March 17!

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
HELENE SMART in "NIGHT IN THE CITY"

Helene celebrates the art of cabaret with a selection of songs that fuzz the lines of country, jazz and folk - because who can say what cabaret is, anyway?

HELENE SMART

Helene has been practicing the art of cabaret ever since she discovered it was the ideal way to combine her love of music with her fascination for the well-chosen word.
She is honored to be appearing with Darin Clendenin, one of the Northwest's finest pianists and arrangers.  Helene most recently appeared with Darin at the Manor House on Bainbridge Island. Helene has performed with Shelly Markham at the Gardenia Lounge in LA, with Rick Jensen at The Piano Bar on Mykonos, with Daryl Spadaccini at the Admiral Theater in Bremerton, and with Stan Keen at the RUINS.

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
JOHN ENGERMAN & MICHAEL KING in "TOM LEHRER: A PROPHET BEFORE HIS TIME"

Tom Lehrer, known for such irreverent songs as "Poisoning Pigeons In The Park" and "Vatican Rag", was also a political satirist with a biting wit. And, as it turns out, a prophet of foibles we seem to be experiencing all over again. In the spirit of Tom Lehrer's original delivery - a couple of guys and a piano - Mike King and John Engerman present a set of his most relevant songs, occasionally updated to reflect the current political
climate change.

JOHN ENGERMAN

John has been writing, arranging, music directing and playing for theatrical productions since the mid 70s.  As a composer, highlights include Ronnie Bwana  Jungle Guide, The Big Bad Wolf (and How He Got That Way), Ming the Rude (Empty Space Theatre), The Ballad of Mary Reade, (Bathhouse Theatre), and Prince Brat and the Whipping Boy (Seattle Childrens Theatre).  Cabaret shows featuring his arrangements of others tunes include The Fabulous Sateens, The Sirens of Swing, and numerous one-woman shows with his wife, Jayne Muirhead.

MICHAEL KING

Mike King represents clients before state and federal appellate courts, to which he has presented over 150 oral arguments  shows that run for just one performance.  Mike is also a member of Arne Zaslove's Hit & Run Theater Company.  His roles have included Francis Tasbrough in Sinclair Lewis's "It Can't Happen Here"; the Judge in Freddie Brinster's "Dark Farce"; Professor Willard in "Our Town"; and President Harry Truman in "In the Realm of Whispering Ghosts: If Truman Met Einstein."  Mike also appeared in Hit & Run's musical review of the songs of Tom Lehrer, "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park."

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
GABRIELLE MEHLMAN in "DIRTY, FLIRTY & NOT YET THIRTY"

Enjoy a humorous evening in the shoes of a young "I'm not 30 yet!" single lady. Be captivated by Gabrielle's shimmering soprano as she shares dating debacles and tales of love lost and battles won through Broadway tunes with a modern-day twist.

GABRIELLE MEHLMAN

Gabrielle Mehlman has been singing for as long as she can remember. She has performed many genres, including musical theatre, classical, rock/pop, and a cappella. Some of her favorite roles include Peggy Sawyer in "42nd Street", Gertrude McFuzz in "Seussical: The Musical" and Belle May Carroca in "My Favorite Year". She is currently a soprano in Joyful!Noise choir and getting back into cabaret-style singing.

MARCH IS CABARET MONTH Presents:
JEANNETTE d'ARMAND in "A PIECE OF SKY"

In a world of computer screens and blue light, singer Jeannette d'Armand weaves the songs of Joni Mitchell, Paul McCartney, The Sundays and more to escape to the solace of a blazing sun, a starry night, and a bird in flight.  With guitarist John Patrick Lowrie.

JEANNETTE d'ARMAND

Jeannette d'Armand was soprano soloist in Cirque du Soleil's "Mystére"; performed in The 5th Avenue Theatre's productions of "Sweeney Todd", "Sound of Music", "Oklahoma!", "Oliver", and "Beautiful Poison" (workshop); and is a founding member of sassy vocal trio The Riveting Rosies. She has sung in Showtunes Theatre's productions of "Nine" (Our Lady of the Spa) and "George M" (Faye Templeton) and in the Seattle Opera Chorus; toured Europe with Amy Denio's "Non lo so, Polo"; and been a guest artist with Seattle Men's Chorus on numerous occasions. A professional voiceover artist, Jeannette teaches private voice, master classes and public speaking.
