Wolfe & Higgins Architectural Historical Homes Tour presented by the Preservation Action Council of San José
WOLFE & HIGGINS: 1920s Spanish Revival Homes Tour
The Preservation Action Council of San José presents its third architectural open homes tour of the work of Frank Delos Wolfe, master architect of San José.
One hundred years ago, San José architect Frank Wolfe, already well known in California for his innovative Prairie-style residential designs, partnered with his son Carl Wolfe and William Ernest Higgins to form what would become one of the most prolific architectural firms of its time. Early adopters of the Spanish Revival style that swept California in the 1920s, the firm of Wolfe & Higgins lasted only fourteen years but in that short time produced more than 500 homes, commercial buildings, and institutional buildings. Among these are some of the most recognizable architectural landmarks in Northern California and some of the most beautiful houses in San José.
Eight historic 1920s Spanish Revival houses and buildings are open August 26, most for the first time, in San José on the Wolfe & Higgins citywide architectural tour.
Don't miss this opportunity to appreciate the work of San José's master architects and get an exclusive peek at the style that shaped San Jose in the 1920s--all while supporting the work of the Preservation Action Council of San José.
THE GALA IS SOLD OUT. We're kicking off the tour the night before with a gala event at one of the only houses designed by William Ernest Higgins before he partnered with Wolfe, all in the beautiful Gross-Low house, a San José City Landmark at 1156 McKendrie St. in San Jose 95126.
