Sixth Position Dance Company Presents: Unsettled
Please join us for our debut performance. We will be premiering two original works directed and choreographed by the company's co-directors.
The World Converged - Choreographed by Brittany Diaz Judge From 1892 to 1954, over twelve million immigrants entered the United States through the portal of Ellis Island. In fact, nearly 40 percent of all current U.S. citizens can trace at least one of their ancestors to Ellis Island. Its easy to read facts and figures and feel detached from this era, but were interested in bringing these stories to life. Presented in five parts, The World Converged depicts small vignettes of the immigrants journeys, from loneliness and fear to wonder and exultation.
Lore - Choreographed by Jordan McDonald Fear. Social pressure. Sometimes its easier to let the current wash you away than it is to swim against it. - Aaron Mahnke, Writer/Host/Producer of Lore Podcast.
Throughout history, some of the most dramatic and moving events are centered around peoples differences. These differences inspire fear. These differences inspire irrational reactions. Lore is about the differences weve seen persecuted in our human history. One famous chapter is the Salem Witch Trials, but Lore is about more than witches. Its about: Education Sexuality Religion Disease Race Body Type Mental health Class But most importantly, Lore is about recognizing our fears and lifting each other up.
