Idaho Fine Arts Academy was a former private school (Fresco Arts Academy) that was dissolved and then reopened by the West Ada School District. It was designed as a school of choice for students who want to engage in the performing and fine arts. Students can engage in Dance, Drama, Visual Arts, Vocal Music and Instrumental Music. An audition is required before being admitted to the school. Most of our students come from areas served by our traditional high school and middle schools in the district. Some of students even come from areas all across the Boise Valley such as Boise, Middleton and Nampa to attend IFAA. West Ada school district is the largest school district in Idaho (population), providing educational services to 37,000 students. It encompasses a geographically diverse area with students coming from four different cities in the Treasure Valley. The district is primarily suburban in nature. There are 50 schools in the district: 32 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, 2 alternative middle schools, 5 high schools, 3 alternative high schools and 2 high schools of choice. Idaho Fine Arts was launched on July 1 of 2014. The former owners of Fresco Arts Academy approached the then Meridian School District about taking over the school site and grandfathering in students who had been in attendance at the end of the 2013-14 school year. The school board approved the transaction. Some work was completed at the site to allow for a greater number of students to attend. The goal was to keep the same 6-12th grade format and begin with 30 students per grade level with a total of 210 students.

Mission Statement: Building Lives Through Artistic, Scholastic and Civic Excellence.

IFAA follows the West Ada School District Belief and Vision Statement.

Beliefs: Children are our community's most valuable asset. A relevant, meaningful, rigorous curriculum should guide instruction to ensure all students show measurable progress and reach their optimum potential. Students, parents, teachers, and the community are partners in the education process. Education should reinforce work ethics and character development. Everyone in the school community deserves dignity and respect, and should be valued as
an individual. Education is an on-going process that requires continuous evaluation and responsible change. Schools should provide a climate that is safe, clean, and inviting.

Vision: We see a school district in which all students receive a quality education  emphasizing skills, knowledge and character development that enable them to reach their potential and become contributing members of society. Our schools will produce responsible, productive students capable of adapting to a changing, diverse world. We see a school district in which all employees continue to improve their skills, knowledge and procedures to meet the needs of all learners. We will provide an environment that dignifies the individual, focuses on rigorous and relevant instruction, and encourages continuous improvement. We will work as a team to establish a safe, clean, inviting atmosphere within facilities that are conducive to quality education. We see a community of well-informed citizens who support educational excellence and work in partnership with the school community to achieve quality educational results for all students.
Idaho Fine Arts Academy enrolls students in grades 6-12 who have auditioned in one of five majors and have been offered a seat based on their audition score. The five major areas are: Dance, Drama, Instrumental, Visual Art, Vocal
Auditions are held each spring for the follow school year. See the IFAA website to audition. Forms may be turned in January 2017. Auditions for the 2017-2018 school year will be on Saturday, February 4, 2017. At this time, students are invited to audition in two areas. Students should choose the major that they feel they can excel at the most or the major that they feel the most passion for. The number of seats available depend on how many students return for the following school year. For more information, please look on the school website. www.westada.org/Domain/3583
