Gays Hate Techno Spring 2017 Gathering
Online registration ends at 11:59 pm on April 11. If you are here but sales have ended, you can still register but will need to do that at the gate. Cost at the gate will be $200, cash only.

This year there are two tiers of registration:

$175 is the regular registration and covers everything
$200 is the 'registration + travel fund' tier. It's optional.

If you choose to pay at the $200 tier, that extra $25 will go into a fund to subsidize travel for our performers. We started that fund this year specifically to subsidize travel costs for POC, female, trans and non cis-male performers and DJs who otherwise wouldn't be able to attend the gathering. We're extremely happy and grateful to everybody for helping us meet out target number for that. Any additional money that's collected by that fund will help us help out some of our other performers who are coming from a long distance.

After registering, please fill out this survey (go ahead and open it in a tab now)
https://goo.gl/forms/FD6E8ENs30Yh0Fr82

It's important that everybody do that. We use the emails you provide there to send you all the info you'll need. Also the survey asks questions about food, volunteering, help you need, and your arrival that help us cover all our bases.

That form uses cookies so you can come back to it later and change your information if needed.

**Call to gather**
Queers, weirdos, freaks and allies, come dance at our slumber party in the woods. 3 days of peace, queer love and techno.

This is not a professionally produced event. This is a DIY communal gathering in a private, queer-owned space. Everybody participates to make this happen. No headliners, no guest list, no VIPs. Just people we hope will be your new friends.

So yes, we're asking everybody to pay. And we're asking everybody who attends to volunteer a shift to help out: we have shifts for setup, kitchen help, some errands, logistics, and cleanup.

**Music**
More or less around the clock except for meals and early morning. More performers will be announced as we confirm.

2 indoor and 1 outdoor sound environments this year.

**Artwork**
We're working on facilitating art and light installations for the gathering. John Major is helping to coordinate and is working from info in the camper survey, so please be sure to fill that out if you'd like him to contact you.

**Forum**
Something new this year. A chance to talk about building community and defending spaces. More info coming.

**Memorial**
Something else new this year. A space to reflect on impermanence and the people whose shoulders we're standing on, especially those who are gone.

**It's your gathering. What will you bring?**
Please bring your passion. If you have ideas would like help facilitating them, please email info@gayshatetechno.com

**Location**
The gathering is at a private queer-owned retreat center under redwoods in a secluded valley approx. 2.5 hours north of San Francisco. Same place as last year.

The venue has the following:
- group cabins w/ bunk beds and mattresses enough to sleep 80
- a full commercial kitchen + indoor dining hall
- showers and bathrooms
- electricity & plumbing
- outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi
- a yurt and great room for other stuff to happen in
- lots of room to wander
- indoor + outdoor dance space
- plenty of room for tent camping and RVs

Parking space is very limited.

**Cost**
$175 regular registration
$200 registration + travel fund

That covers:
- generator, fuel, sound system and lights
- having the entire place to ourselves
- 3 communal meals a day (w/ vegan option)
- snacks and drinks and some beer
- plates, utensils etc

All our beds are booked, and will be assigned in order that people filled out our camper survey. If you'd like to be on a waiting list for a bed, indicate your preference in the survey and we'll work down the list in order.

**Special info for travelers**
If you're making the effort to come into to town and need help sourcing camping gear, you can let us know in the survey. We're going to have an organized effort to make sure that everybody has access to a tent. To do that we're working from info in the camper survey, so make sure you fill that out.

**Help out**
We have free rein over the venue, but we are responsible for setting up, cooking, and cleaning up after ourselves. Everybody will be asked to contribute something -- setup, help with meals, or clean up.

**Cancellations & refunds**
Registrations are final and we won't be issuing refunds except for cases of illness or emergency.

**FAQ**
What time does it start? What time is it over?
You're welcome to arrive Thursday April 13th at 12pm. We'll still be setting up it -- it'll be a wonderful chance to hang with a slightly smaller crowd in a quieter setting before most people show up on Friday. The formal music schedule begins on Friday, but last year we has impromptu unscheduled sets all night Thursday and it was kind of amazing. We're planning on being able to do something similar this year.
We'll start breaking down Sunday April 16th after brunch and will be off the property by 3pm.

Who's playing when?
We'll have more info posted about days and times as we get a little closer. We're still confirming everybody's travel plans.

I want to play music. How do I do that?
As usual, response from people wanting to play has been really huge, and our slots are full. We're biasing programming toward people who haven't DJ'd the gathering before. Still, let us know in the questionnaire that you want to play in case things open up. But live performances and PA sets are another thing entirely, since setups (and therefore potential places/times to stage your performance) vary. It's more likely we can fit in a live set somehow, especially if you're able to perform somewhere other than the main dance space.

I want to bring art. Can I do that?
YES! Once we get an idea of what ideas people have we'll let you know in what ways we might be able to help. On the survey in the section about volunteering, please select bringing art as something you're interested in. Somebody will be in touch.

I have an idea for something to volunteer but it's not on your list. Can I do it?
Let's talk! There are lots of additional spaces besides our two dance floors that we're deliberately leaving unprogrammed, and those are open for you to create in. Please let us know what you have in mind.

What do I need to bring?
Not much. And we'll send out an email closer to the event with suggestions about what you should bring with you. You don't need to bring any food.
Tent folks: bring the tent and sleeping bag
Cabin folks: the beds have bottom sheets but you'll need pillow and blanket

I avoid certain foods. Will you take care of me?
Yes. The survey will ask you about diet and allergies. We're planning so most of our dishes can be made with or without animals in them.

Can I get a ride with somebody? Can I borrow a tent?
Probably yes! We're going to be a little more organized re: helping people find rides and borrow tents. We're working from info in the camper survey, so make sure you fill that out.

Will there be showers and electrical outlets?
Yep, and toilets and water fountains.

I need to sleep near an electrical outlet. What if the cabins are all sold out?
As long as your tent is somewhere near a building we will run power out to you. Just let us know beforehand so we bring enough extension cords.

Wifi? Phone service?
Don't count on either, but there is wifi near the main lodge. We're in a secluded valley.

Is the pool heated?
Nope. But the jacuzzi is right next to it. You'll figure something out.

How about ADA compliance?
We're very happy that we're at an ADA compliant place this year. If you need to be in a cabin with wheelchair access we can make that happen. The dining hall and dance floor are also wheelchair accessible.
Cabins are now full, but even so, if you would like to come but are physically unable to sleep in a tent, please let us know and we will try very hard to work something out for you.

Can I bring an RV?
Yes! There is room for RVs, though there are no RV electrical or gray water hookups.

** Dedication **
The gathering in 2017 will be dedicated to the memory of people who've created and defended spaces like the one were trying to make and especially to Barrett Clark, without whom the gathering probably wouldnt exist. Barrett was a key co-organizer from the beginning, and it wont be the same event without him.
