Join us for a BIG AUSTIN HOMETOWN BASH - the local premiere of The Shopkeeper - Can a beloved Austin music producer keep his studio open in the age of Spotify?

Award winning singer-songwriter Rain Perry brings her debut film The Shopkeeper, about the rise and fall and uncertain future of the music business, to the Alamo Lamar in a special event screening and audience talk back.

Heartwarming, funny and insightful, packed with great music, The Shopkeeper tells the story of Mark Hallman, who has recorded Carole King, Ani DiFranco and many more, to ask the question of the moment: Everybody can make a record. Nobody can make a living. What's next?

Featuring: Mark Hallman, Ani DiFranco, Tom Russell, Eliza Gilkyson and a star-studded list of Austinites.

Rain is excited to bring the film to the Austin audience for its hometown Austin premiere!

Director Rain Perrys Beautiful Tree was the theme for the CW Networks Life Unexpected, on which she also had the surreal pleasure of appearing as herself. She has released four albums on her own Precipitous Records, as well as writing and touring a solo play about her childhood called Cinderblock Bookshelves: A Guide For Children of Fame-Obsessed Bohemian Nomads. The Shopkeeper is her first film.

Music producer Mark Hallman has been a mainstay of the Austin music scene since opening the legendary Congress House Studio in the 1980s. His production credits include Carole King, Ani DiFranco, Eliza Gilkyson, Tom Russell and a host of great Austin artists. He is honored to be the subject of the film The Shopkeeper.
