Professional Development for High School Educators: Examining Art and Social Justice through Images, Sound and Movement
Join us for a day of learning with Museum staff and teaching artists focused on social justice themes in dialogue, art, music and dance. Rooted in exhibitions on view at the Studio Museum and the Caribbean Cultural Center African Diaspora Institute (CCCADI)including The Window and the Breaking of the Window at the Studio Museum and HOME, MEMORY, AND FUTURE at CCCADIthe day will provide inspiration for curriculum-building through interactive workshops and exploration of noted works by artists such as Devin Allen, Elizabeth Catlett, Leroy Clark and Hiram Maristany. This professional development day offers a space to examine notions of social justice in the historical and present-day lives of African-descendant communities as reflected in artists' work.

This professional learning day is FREE and RSVP is required. The program begins at CCCADI, promptly 9:00am. Enter at 103 E. 125th Street. Please visit www.studiomuseum.org or www.cccadi.org to RSVP. Space is limited, and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.
