Introduction to Arduino and Basic Electronics
Introductory class on Arduino and Basic Electronics - The Arduino is an inexpensive micro controller platform. It is used in all sorts of projects and allows you to attach sensors, led's, servo motors, etc. For more on the Arduino, see: http://www.arduino.org/.
While there are many types of Arduino, the instructor will focus Arduino uno. Each student should come to the first class with an Arduino Uno, USB cable and a laptop computer capable of running the Arduino IDE (https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software). In addition, each student will require a circuit breadboard, jumper wires, led's, resistors, switches,assorted sensors and some output devices. A starter kit like this one from Adafruit - https://www.adafruit.com/products/68 - would work well. Similar kits are available from yourduino.com, sparkfun.com, Amazon, etc.
The class will run every Tuesday evening in January. The cost is $20 for all 5 classes.
Class 1 - setting up the software, using a breadboard, using the Arduino IDE, and Basic Electronics.
The classwill be taught by Jerry Hutchins, a retired (FSU Nuclear Research) Electronics engineer with over 25 years experience in the field.
The class is limited to people 16 and up or younger kids accompanied by their parents.
