JAMES SHERMAN is the author of the plays BEAU JEST, THE BEN HECHT SHOW, MAGIC TIME, MR. 80%, THE ESCAPE ARTIST, JEST A SECOND, ROMANCE IN D, FROM DOOR TO DOOR, THE OLD MAN'S FRIEND, AFFLUENZA, HALF AND HALF, RELATIVELY CLOSE, AND JACOB AND JACK. They are regularly produced throughout the world. His wrote and directed the film version of his classic comedy BEAU JEST, starring Lainie Kazan, Seymour Cassel, and Robyn Cohen. He was a founding member of the Victory Gardens Playwrights Ensemble. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
DENNIS ZACEK is the world's foremost authority on James Sherman. This production will be their fifteenth collaboration together. He is Artistic Director Emeritus of Victory Gardens Theater. He, his wife Marcelle McVay, and Victory Gardens are co-recipients of the 2001 Tony Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre. He is the recipient of the Actors Equity Association Spirit Recognition Award, as well as the 2005 Jeff Award for Outstanding Achievement in Chicago Equity Theatre. He has directed more than 250 productions.
GRIPPO STAGE COMPANY, a 501 (c) (3) public charity, uses theater to celebrate cultural diversity, in particular to promote Jewish Heritage and support Israel. In the summer of 2016, it presented two world premiere productions: THE BEN HECHT SHOW, written and performed by James Sherman, and, in a co-production with Dennis Zacek, the musical CONFESSIONS OF A P.I.M.P., written and performed by four time Tony nominee Andre De Shields. CHARLES GRIPPO (Producer) is a playwright, entertainment attorney, producer, composer-lyricist, author, and theatrical "angel." His play SEX MARKS THE SPOT (BRITISH VERSION) is represented by Samuel French for world wide licensing. His other plays have been produced all over the country. They include SEX MARKS THE SPOT (AMERICAN VERSION), A WIFE'S TALE, OUTRAGEOUS MIS-FORTUNE, WHEN ANGELS WEPT, THE TOOTH OF THE MATTER, and SANTA'S CHILDREN. Allworth Press has published his books THE STAGE PRODUCER'S BUSINESS AND LEGAL GUIDE and BUSINESS AND LEGAL FORMS FOR THEATER. The latter has gone into a second edition. Both are widely used as textbooks in college and university theater management training programs. A nationally recognized authority on entertainment law, Charles is much in demand as a speaker and consultant. He has produced theater since 1987.
