She is called the Great Queen, the Phantom Queen, the Battle Raven: the Morrígan, Celtic Goddess of sovereignty, war, death, prophecy and the Otherworld. She was central in the tales and exploits of the Tuatha Dé Danann, the ancient Gods of Ireland. Who was She to the ancients, and what do the foundational myths of Ireland tell us about the Celtic worldview? Who is She to us today, and how can we honor these ancient Gods in a modern context? Drawing on both history and personal experience, this workshop will give you the tools to begin connecting with the Morrígan and other members of the family of Irish Gods, or to help you deepen your devotional practice.
This will be a two part event, with a workshop on the various aspects of polytheist devotional practice with the Great Queen and the Tuatha De Danann, understanding their myths and cultural context, and how we can engage with them today.
Later in the evening, join the Coru priesthood for an intimate devotional ritual in which we will invoke the Morrígan and some of Her kin into our circle to offer our devotions, commune with their wisdom, and engage with their power. Whether you are new to cultivating a relationship with the Irish gods or wish to deepen your connection, this devotional will provide a space for intimate connection with the Great Queen and the Tuatha Dé Danann, as well as opportunities to connect with other folk drawn to Her service. Ritual will be followed by potluck food sharing, community and personal divinations, and conversation.
