TMI Project Presents the MHA of Ulster County Workshop Performance
TMI Project Stages Free Performance Featuring Participants From its Latest Workshop with the Mental Health Association of Ulster County

On Thursday, December 8th, TMI Project invites the public to a free performance, an evening of true storytelling, featuring participants from its latest workshop at the Mental Health Association (MHA) of Ulster County.

The show will be held at 7pm at the 721 Media Center, and will feature seven readers:

Barbara Steinke
Morris Bassik
Amber Hadigan
Hayley Downs
Beth Broun
Susan Grove
Kate McCoy

The performance will be filmed, and parts will be incorporated into a documentary currently being made by Haystack Creative about the work TMI Project has been doing with MHA.

Twice annually for the past four years, through its Community Outreach Initiative, TMI Project has offered ten-week empowering, transformative true storytelling workshops at MHA.

Our workshops at MHA have been among our most successful and rewarding, said Eva Tenuto, TMI Projects Executive Director and co-founder. Getting participants to share the truth of their experiences in an effective way has consistently been therapeutic, empowering, and enlightening. It has shed crucial light on mental illness and the mental health system, which helps to counteract stigma.

Bringing TMI Projects work to our organization has had wonderful results, said Ellen Pendegar, chief executive officer of the Mental Health Association in Ulster County, Inc. Participants, who have faced mental health challenges have become eloquent storytellers of resiliency.Their stories eliminate the stigma and discrimination that can be felt within ones self, ones community and the mental health system. I am proud of what TMI Project and MHA have accomplished together.

Usually, the MHA workshops culminating performances are held in the afternoon in the MHA cafeteria. This time, the performance will be in the evening, at the sound stage at 721 Media Center.

Its exciting to be taking our performance with the MHA participants to the next level, Tenuto said. This documentary will allow us to reach a greater audience about the therapeutic benefits of TMI Project's methodology.

Admission to the performance is free.

TMI Project is a non-profit organization founded by executive director Eva Tenuto and Julie Novak, which offers memoir writing workshops that culminate in performances and/or publication. Through its Community Outreach Initiative, TMI Project brings distinct versions of its workshops to the incarcerated, at-risk teens, cancer patients, survivors of domestic violence, military veterans, LBGTQ teens, and other populations where people dont often get to tell their stories or be heard.
