Cabaret

Based on a novel by Christopher Isherwood and a 1951 play by John Van Druten, this musical features music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. Cliff Bradshaw, an American author working on a novel in Berlin, encounters Sally Bowles at the seedy Kit Kat Klub where she sings. When she is fired by the clubs owner, her jealous boyfriend, she moves in with Cliff and the two fall in love. As the Nazis begin taking control of the German government, the atmosphere of the Kit Kat Klub and the lives of Cliff and Sally begin to change dramatically.

"Have attended several productions at this theater and tonights performance of Cabaret is one that should not be missed. The storyline does not follow the movie but rather gives insight into characters and their tumultuous lives. The choreography, music and acting showed the hard work everyone played in making this play superb. The theater is small and quaint but the production is 'giant.'"

"I was unfamiliar with the play " Cabaret " other than having seen Joel Grey perform some of his emcee role on television a couple of times in the distant part . I did not know that it deals with Nazism and the Jews so directly , or at least this particular version of the production does , and being one who discovered my emotions rather late , into my twenties , to say that I found the play very moving is an understatement."
