Dynamic and Intimate Voices Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis and the Intimate Opera Company
The Philharmonic Orchestra of Indianapolis joins with the Intimate Opera Company to bring rich operatic experience right to your table!
For a number of years, we have been looking for a vehicle to bring vocal artistry from staged productions into our performances. And the Athenaeum is the perfect place to do that. With cabaret seating, the stage above the orchestra, and the youthful voices of Indy's own "Intimate Opera Company", we have created a window into the variety of music by operetta composers, Sigmund Romberg, Victor Herbert and Leonard Bernstein.

Soloists:
Called a fine, young, leather-lunged soprano, Meagan Searles Todd has been praised for her high vocal purity. Recently she has been seen as Mímí in Projekt Operas La bohème and with Intimate Operas in Speed Dating Tonight. With Intimate Opera Ms. Todd was also seen in the title role of Holsts Savitri and as Jenny in Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters. Ms. Todds career has included performing with Lyric Opera San Diego, San Francisco Lyric Opera, Livermore Valley Opera, Indianapolis Opera, Ash Lawn Opera, and The Seagle Music Colony. Some of her favorite roles performed include Juliette (Roméo et Juliette), Val (A Chorus Line), Antonia (Man of La Mancha), Pamina and First Lady (The Magic Flute), Geraldine (A Hand of Bridge), La Princesse (LEnfant et les sortileges), Miss Wordsworth (Albert Herring).
Amy Hayes Kendall earned her bachelors degree from DePauw University and continued studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She then received her masters degree in English Education from Marian University. Ms. Kendall is the founder of Intimate Opera of Indianapolis and is an English literature teacher at Greenwood Community High School. Performance highlights include the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Rosalinda (Die Fledermaus), and the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte). Her directing achievements include Ned Rorem's Three Sisters Who Are Not Sisters and Mozarts The Impresario. Ms. Kendall also sings part-time with the Twilite Nites Dance Orchestra.
A graduate of the DePauw School of Music and the Indiana Jacobs School of Music, Steven R. Linville has performed in operatic roles including Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec in the premiere of Bernard Rands' Vincent, Mayor Upfold (Albert Herring), and the tenor role in the Midwest premiere of Scott Perkins's Charon. His musical theatre work includes Pirellia (Sweeney Todd), William Barfée (The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee), and the Proprietor (Assassins). As a concert soloist he has performed in Mozarts Requiem, Handels Messiah, and Haydns Lord Nelson Mass. Mr. Linville has also served as a director, musical director, and vocal coach, working on productions such as Urinetown: The Musical, Into the Woods, Parade, Company, and Spamalot. Mr. Linville now serves as executive producer for Intimate Opera of Indianapolis and works at the DePauw School of Music.
Blake Kendall is a Columbus, Indiana native and a graduate from Butler University. Kendall first joined Intimate Opera for their production of Opera Shots opera scenes in 2014 singing the role of Bill in Barber's A Hand of Bridge as well as in Bill Kloppenburg's puppet opera Fear Not The Robot. He appeared as Dater #20, the Lonely Heart, in Michael Ching's Speed Dating Tonight in 2015. Mr. Kendall has previously sung the roles of Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi and Buoso's Ghost as part of the Bay View Music Festival and Eisenstein in Strauss' Die Fledermaus on the Indiana University Opera stage.
The Intimate Opera Company
Intimate Opera of Indianapolis offers Indianapolis area residents a chance to explore different forms of opera beyond what they normally think of as traditional opera. One of Intimate Operas goals is to make it possible for opera goers to attend frequently. Intimate Opera of Indianapolis knows that the future of opera lies in the ability of arts organizations to build new audiences by focusing on creating innovative performances of classic works, as well as those of living composers; opportunities for local artist to showcase their talent and develop their skills; and a community where both the audience and artists are invested in the creation and support of new productions.
