Finians Rainbow Revisited

Finians Rainbow Revisited is a delightful adaptation by The Park Theater of the original, award winning Broadway musical by Burton Lane, E. Y. Harburg and Fred Saidy. This Tony-award winning musical was first performed nearly 70 years ago on Broadway and subsequently had a two-year theatrical run in New York City. It was made into a hit movie by Francis Ford Coppola in 1968 starring Fred Astaire and Petula Clark. Filled with impish magic and joyful song, this production addresses the serious social issues of our times including immigration, bigotry, stereotypes, and social inequities with a wink and a nod, and the hope for a brighter day.

The play is a combination of whimsy, romance, and political satire, based in a fictitious American town that deals with serious issues of social concern that are still germane to our society today as they were in the 1940s.

Classics such as How Are Things in Glocca Morra?; Look to the Rainbow; and Old Devil Moon are brought to the stage by a brilliantly talented cast, chorus of singers, and dancers, under the musical direction of Bea Hasselmann from the Metropolitan Boys Choir. The Park Theater Companys Director and Producer, Jim McDonough Jr., Ph.D., has produced Finians Rainbow by arrangement with Tams-Witmark Music Library, Inc., 560 Lexington Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
