75 FOR $150: A Different Kind of Art Event

Friday, November 11th

6-9 pm

From Milly West - "As all my friends know, I have spent the last 20 years falling in love with Cuban art and artists. I have collected wonderful art on every trip to Cuba, and three years ago I dedicated all profits from my photo book, CUBA FOR KEEPS, to artists in Santiago de Cuba who were victims of Hurricane Sandy. Many of those affected are still suffering and rebuilding. Now, I want to share my enthusiasm and my artwork with you. Please join me for this unique exhibition and fundraiser, which will allow me to give back again to Cuban artists and will also benefit the arts locally by supporting YAC!"

Admission & How It Works

For your $150 dollar admission, you will not only get an evening of Cuban food and drink, including Mojitos and Cuba Libres, while socializing with fellow art lovers and looking at a great exhibition of hand-collected Cuban art and photography, but you also get to choose one work, valued at $150 or more, for your own collection! No one will leave empty-handed. A couple pays $200 and may redeem their tickets in the same way, selecting one work from the same group of art.

Plus it's a bit of a game-a fun way to choose work-a little chance, a little strategy. How it works is this: once you arrive, your name(s) will go into a bowl at the door; then everyone will have time to socialize while looking at the art on view. At around 7 pm, the selection of art will begin with 10 names being drawn from the bowl at a time. Those people will have five minutes to place their name on their selection, which secures that piece as theirs to take home. Have your list ready to go! There will be at least 80 pieces available to choose from for the $150 dollars already paid to attend. A couple may redeem their two tickets for a larger work of art valued at $300 or more, or an individual or couple may add money the night of the party to their entry fee for a larger or more valuable work of art. Some paintings and photos are valued at up to $750 but will be sold for much less on this night only. More images and updates here!

Individual entry for the event which does not include a work of art is $75, but everyone will have a chance to get a wonderful work of art for a great price and a good cause!

The Keybones! Jeff Callaway on trombone and Bill Perry on keyboard will provide music for the evening!

It's all about having a fun time for a good cause.

A donation from the proceeds will be given to the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council for the ART for EVERYONE Fund.

Please join Milly in her passion, come to the party, and leave with a piece of Cuban artwork or one of her excellent photos, some of which were shown last year at the Mississippi Museum of Art, during the Mississippi Invitational.

"If you have talked to me in the last 20 years, or visited my home or Tres Puertas Gallery, adjacent to my home, you know how important art is to me. You also know the quality of art that will be available, which represents the best of Cuban art. Thanks to Steve McDavid and Wayne Andrews and YAC for their encouragement and kind support of this event. I hope to see you, my dear Oxford friends, for a fun evening on November 11th!" - Milly West

If you would like to pay with check or cash, please come by the Powerhouse office between 9 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday.
