UnSelfie Presentation - Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in Our All-About-Me world.
Michele Borba, Ed. D, internationally known child development researcher and author, will speak on Bainbridge Island about her newest book: UNSELFIE: Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in Our All-About-Me World. Borba, often featured in national news, from CNN to The New York Times, will share science backed insights about how current cultural trends from constant personal technology use to achievement-first pressures, correlate to rising problems with toxic stress and mental-emotional issues in children and youth. Optimistically, she shows parents and teachers how to turn this around with researched backed strategies to help develop empathy, a first step in cultivating holistic well-being. Her book and presentation are geared to parents with children of any age, and her strategies are identified by developmental stages.
